Protecting yourself against Australia’s new data retention laws
So… many of you will know that as of this morning, Australia’s new data retention laws for ISPs came into effect.
Personally, I think this is bollux. I do not do anything illegal on the internet, but letting people trawl through what I do… is not something that I think any Australian citizen should ever have to worry about.
Therefore, if you haven’t got yourself a VPN as of yet… it is high time you do. I have done a review on my personal favourite Torguard. I have asked the team if they would be willing to give me a coupon to share given the current state of play, and they have agreed… so for a limited time you can get 20% off any Torguard plan by heading over to Torguard and using the following coupon “AnonymousVPN”. #youAreWelcome!
There are a few others around Australia that offer Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane servers (the closer a server is to you, the less likely you are to see an impact to your speed, so this is a vast improvement over connecting to a US server for example). However from what I have experienced, Torguard has exceptional support, is willing to go the extra mile, has more servers than you can poke a stick at ANDDD most importantly… doesn’t STORE…. LOGS!!!
+1 to technology for getting around laws that invade our privacy!
